Reading and voting

Reading, liking and voting are free and need no account. One vote per story per person: we may exclude votes we believe are automated, duplicated or bought. Voting is an editorial signal, not a promise: our editors decide which stories become videos.

Your account

Keep your sign-in method secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it at any time from your shelf.

Submitting a story

When you submit a story you confirm that:

• it is your own writing, or you have the right to share it, and it does not copy someone else's published work;
• it does not identify private individuals without their consent, make unverified accusations against real people, or include anyone's private information;
• you are at least 13 years old.

Permissions you give

You keep ownership of your story. You give Enigma Archives a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it as you choose on the form: to publish it on the site, to edit it for spelling, grammar and clarity without changing its meaning, and to translate it between English and Dhivehi (together required to submit), and if you tick it, to adapt or narrate it for TikTok and other Enigma channels. We record which permissions you gave and when.

If you did not allow adaptation, the story will not enter video voting and will not be made into a video without your new permission. You can ask us to unpublish your story at any time; videos already published may not be fully retractable.

Authors

You can apply to become an author with a short writing sample. We decide each application ourselves and may decline it; we will tell you why. Approved authors accept the author agreement shown on the Become an Author page before their author page opens. It confirms, among other things, that to the best of your knowledge your work is your own or you have the right to share it, and that every story is moderated before it is published.

Stories from authors are covered by these terms and the permissions above, as for any submission. We may close an author page that breaks these terms or the author agreement.

What we may refuse or remove

We read every submission and may decline, edit (within your permissions) or remove any content, including content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful, sexually explicit, graphic, harassing, spam, or that puts a real person at risk.

Acceptable use

Do not:

• use bots, scripts or multiple devices to manipulate votes or likes;
• scrape, copy or republish stories from the site without permission;
• try to break, overload or bypass the security of the site;
• impersonate anyone or submit someone else's story as your own.
• post comments that harass, threaten or expose others, share private details (phone numbers, addresses), advertise, or link to scams. Comments are checked before they appear, and we may remove any comment or stop an account from commenting;

Sponsors and ads

Some placements are sponsored and are always labelled. Sponsors do not edit stories or influence votes. Sensitive stories never carry a sponsor.

The stories themselves

Many stories are folklore, personal accounts or legend. They are published as stories, not verified facts. Some deal with frightening or mature themes.

Liability

The site is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for content submitted by readers. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that the law does not allow to be limited.
